Well we've arrived and jumped right into the deep end of establishing our new "nomad friendly careers" as Tourist Park Managers. And Lola is now a fully fledged high school student.
In a vast contrast to our experiences in the open plains of dry red dirt and blazing sun this is the real deal.
The park is set on approximately 6.5 acres overlooking the Leschenault Estuary. It's boundried by the Indian Ocean and Collie River Waterways, white sands and dolphins a plenty just down the road and a short 8km drive to Bunbury WA.
There's something for everyone with 200 properties made up of approximately 40 powered sites, 60+ serviced motel rooms & cabins, 60+ permanent village sites, with another 38 single quarters in the planning.
We are the sole managers living onsite and 24 hours on call. We are supported by part time receptionist and maintenance to cover our days off and a casual cleaning crew for cleaning rooms and ablutions and a part time bookkeeper.
On a rotating roster - 6 days on 2 days off, 6 days on 3 days off I man the office 10 hours/day and Brad looks after all of the grounds and room maintenance. The owner covers nights on our days off giving us much needed relief from the after hours phone or emergencies.
In a nutshell, it's pretty full on and quite a contast from our lazy travelling days that's for sure. It's going to be an interesting time.
The resident's and guests have received us very well, the staff has/will take quite a bit longer - regardless, we think we can make a difference.
